Meet the Team

Pastor John Brennan

Pastor John Brennan was born and raised in Oklahoma and currently lives in Bethany. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1984 and studied at the University of Central Oklahoma. In 1989, he married Michelle Heierding, and they are proud parents of two adult daughters, Kaley and Bryce.

The Brennan family has deep roots at First Lutheran Church—longtime members, with both daughters baptized here.

Before entering ministry, Pastor John worked in management in the restaurant and grocery industries. He later followed a call to ministry and attended seminary through the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC). He served as pastor at St. Peter Free Lutheran Church in Melvin, Illinois, from 2005 to 2020, before returning to First Lutheran to continue his pastoral work and serve the community he calls home.
